Track leak events across roof, wall, and equipment junctions

Coordinate Roof Leaks Near Solar or Equipment

Separate roof, mounting, curb, line, and equipment responsibilities before repair.

Document the actual condition

Moisture near solar mounts, HVAC curbs, conduits, pipes, or platforms can cross roofing and equipment responsibilities. Collect installation and service records, component identifiers, rain timing, and ground or interior photos. Do not disconnect, move, or walk around equipment merely to improve intake evidence.

Set the inspection questions

The roofer should map penetrations, flashing, covering, and drainage while an appropriate equipment contractor addresses work beyond roofing expertise. The plan must allocate shutdown, disconnection, lifting, temporary support, roof opening, reconnection, and testing, including who protects the building between steps.

Write a comparable scope

Confirm that each required party priced its responsibility and name one coordinator for sequencing and changes. Preserve roof-stage photographs and service records together. That record helps future technicians avoid disturbing a repaired interface and makes unresolved equipment-side or interior work visible at closeout.

Preserve the decision record

List recent solar, mechanical, electrical, or plumbing visits in date order and identify the roof area each vendor accessed. The timeline does not prove responsibility, but it can focus questions about disturbed mounts, lines, curbs, or service panels. Give every participating contractor the same identifiers and roof plan.

  • List recent equipment visits by roof area and date
  • Photograph roof and equipment interfaces before reconnection
  • Keep proposal revisions aligned with the stated objective: Separate roof, mounting, curb, line, and equipment responsibilities before repair.
